Memorial Service for Paula in Southampton

For those of you in England, Highfield Church in Southampton is organizing a time at the church when people can gather to remember Paula, to grieve and to pray. This will be happening at 5.30pm, Thursday 24th May.

Graham Archer chose this song for the memorial service in Southampton. I hope he (and the original author) won’t mind if I use it as the basis for a few words for Paula and for Darren:

Lord, you came to her
She let her heart be changed, renewed,
Flowing from the grace that she found in you.
And, Lord, we’ve come to know
The weaknesses there were in her
Have been stripped away
By the power of your love.

Hold him close, let your love surround him,
Bring him near, draw him to your side;
And as he weeps, she rises like an eagle,
And she soars with you;
Oh Spirit lead him on
In the power of your love.

Lord, unveil his eyes,
She can see you face to face,
Give him knowledge of your love
As you live in him.
Lord, renew his mind
As your will unfolds in his life,
In living every day
In the power of your love.

I met Paula several times but nevI never had the opportunity of meeting more closely. However after the emotive service at Highfield Church I realize how wonderful person we missed.

I had the pleasure to work with Paula whilst she was in England, and we became good friends, I am priveliged to have known her if only for a short time, she was and is a special person who you only had to spend a few minutes with her for her to touch your life incredibally, she, Darren and Mica visited England in Novemeber 2006 and the old Eastleigh team got together for a meal. Its was great to see her and Darren so happy. Paula will always be remembered in my heart, she was great.
